Workers compensation insurance

The University holds workers compensation insurance to cover its legal liability to employees under the Workers' Compensation Act of NSW.

Holders of postgraduate awards receiving stipends paid through the University's payroll system are deemed to be workers within the meaning of the Workers Compensation Act, and are therefore covered by that Act.

In determining any compensation that might be payable, the stipend allowance paid is regarded as the basis for calculating average weekly earnings.
